The Schreiter Institute was created in partnership with Catholic Theological Union to foster the ongoing development of a practical theology of Precious Blood and the promotion of spirituality across all justice-minded professions.

The goals of the Schreiter Institute are to:

  • foster academic scholarship in a practical theology of reconciliation

  • promote pastoral education guided by practical theology approaches which emphasize praxis while maintaining a firm foundation in spirituality

  • develop programs and workshops that serve both the students at CTU as well as the general public

  • support other ventures that promote the charism and spirituality of the Precious Blood

The Institute was named in honor of the late Fr. Robert J. Schreiter, C.PP.S., a member of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood and a longtime faculty member at CTU. He wrote extensively and presented throughout the world about the healing and reconciliation that could be found in the Precious Blood of Jesus. He was often invited to places of global conflict, offering this message of peace.
